In this episode, we talk to the creator and host of the podcast Blk + In Grad School, Allante Whitmore. She is originally from Detroit where she lived until 2007 when she decided to attend North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University to study Biological Engineering.

She went on to earn an M.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She moved back to Detroit and led the McNair Scholars Program at Wayne State University for a couple of years. Then in 2017, she began her pursuit of a joint Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University.

Her research focuses on uncovering the environmental and social implications of autonomous vehicle technology. When she is not studying, she curating her podcast Blk + In Grad School, a show geared toward helping POC in graduate school figure it out!
